It functions as an emulsion stabiliser, meaning it helps keep water and oil-based ingredients mixed together smoothly rather than separating over time.This ingredient is commonly used in moisturisers, serums, and other cream formulations where maintaining a stable, uniform texture is important for product performance and shelf life.

This polymer works by forming a network within the emulsion. Its molecular structure has regions that interact with both water and oil components, allowing it to sit at the interface between them and prevent droplets from coalescing (merging together).The 'cross-linked' nature of the polymer—meaning its chains are bonded to each other—gives it stability and helps it maintain its thickening and stabilising properties even when the product is used repeatedly or exposed to temperature changes.
