What Is Bis-Methane?
Bis-Methane is a chemical UV filter used in sunscreens and photoprotective skincare products. It works by absorbing ultraviolet radiation and converting it into heat, which is then released from the skin. Chemical filters operate differently from physical (mineral) filters, which sit on the skin's surface and reflect UV rays.
This ingredient is formulated into products specifically to provide broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB radiation, which can cause sunburn, premature ageing, and increase skin cancer risk over time.
How It Works
Bis-Methane functions as a chemical absorber by accepting UV photons and exciting electrons to a higher energy state.
