They appear in roughly 0.1% of skincare products, typically in lower concentrations within formulations.

Glyceryl Stearates work by depositing a thin, occlusive film on the skin's surface. This layer reduces the rate at which water evaporates from the epidermis, thereby maintaining hydration. The ingredient's emollient properties also help to fill microscopic gaps in the stratum corneum (the skin's outermost layer), creating a smoother appearance.Unlike some humectants that actively draw water into the skin, glyceryl stearates primarily work to lock in existing moisture, making them particularly useful in barrier-support and hydrating formulations.

Glyceryl Stearates are typically found in moisturisers, creams, and lotions rather than serums or lightweight products. They integrate well into formulations alongside other emollients and humectants.
