Polyglyceryl-6 behenate is a synthetic emulsifier derived from glycerin and behenic acid (a long-chain fatty acid). It functions as an emulsion stabiliser, meaning it helps keep the water and oil phases of a skincare product blended together rather than separating.In formulation, it works by positioning itself at the interface between water and oil molecules, reducing surface tension and allowing these typically incompatible ingredients to coexist stably. This ingredient appears in roughly 0.4% of skincare products, primarily in emulsions and creams.
