Polypropylene is a synthetic polymer—a long-chain plastic material derived from petroleum. It appears in a small proportion of skincare products (roughly 0.2%), typically in formulations where texture refinement is a priority. As a polymer, it sits on the skin surface rather than being absorbed, contributing to the sensory experience of a product.
How It Works
Polypropylene works by increasing the viscosity (thickness) of a formula, which changes how the product behaves when applied.
