What Is Retinyl Palmitate?
Retinyl Palmitate is a stable ester formed by combining retinol with palmitic acid. As one of the mildest members of the retinoid family, it requires conversion in the skin through several steps before becoming active retinoic acid, resulting in a gentler, more gradual effect.
While less potent than retinol or tretinoin, this derivative offers excellent stability in formulations and is well-tolerated by most skin types. It serves as an ideal entry point for those beginning their retinoid journey or those who cannot tolerate stronger forms.
