In skincare formulations, it functions as a multitasking ingredient: it helps emulsify (blend oil and water), conditions the skin surface, controls viscosity (thickness), and can absorb excess moisture. It appears in roughly 0.1% of skincare products, often in cleansers, moisturisers, and serums where formula stability matters.

How It Works

The crosspolymer structure allows this ingredient to sit at the interface between oil and water phases in a formulation. Its dimethicone backbone provides a conditioning feel, whilst the polyglycerin component helps it integrate with both hydrophobic (oil-loving) and hydrophilic (water-loving) ingredients.
