What Is Gleditsia Triacanthos Seed Extract?

Gleditsia triacanthos seed extract comes from a plant commonly known as the honey locust that is native to central parts of North America.\n\nWhile not a commonly used ingredient in cosmetics, Gleditsia triacanthos seed extract offers antioxidant benefits for skin, primarily through its content of phenols.\n\nHoney locust seed extract is also known for its concentration of galactomannans, a type of polysaccharide (complex sugar) found in plant seeds. These galactomannans serve as hair and skin conditioning agents, as well as thickening and stabilizing cosmetic formulas.\n\nThis extract is generally used in amounts from 0.5-1.5% in skin care products.
