What Is Human Bone Marrow Stem Cell Conditioned Media?
Human bone marrow stem cell conditioned media is produced by culturing mesenchymal stem cells derived from bone marrow, then collecting the nutrient-rich liquid (the conditioned media) that accumulates around the cells. This liquid contains growth factors, proteins, and other bioactive molecules naturally secreted by the stem cells during culture.
In skincare formulations, this ingredient functions as a skin conditioning agent. The theory is that these secreted factors may stimulate cellular activity in the skin—including fibroblast and keratinocyte proliferation—potentially supporting natural regeneration processes.
How It Works
The mechanism relies on paracrine signalling—a form of cell-to-cell communication. Growth factors and cytokines present in the conditioned media bind to receptors on dermal fibroblasts and epidermal keratinocytes, triggering these cells to proliferate, migrate, and differentiate. This activity may support the skin's natural repair and renewal processes.
