Juglans Regia Shell Powder

Juglans regia shell powder is a finely ground abrasive material made from the hard outer shell of the walnut (Juglans regia). It functions as a mechanical exfoliant in skincare formulations, working through physical friction rather than chemical action.This ingredient is used primarily in cleansing products and exfoliating scrubs, where its particle structure helps to physically remove dead skin cells, surface debris and excess sebum from the skin's upper layers.

Walnut shell powder exfoliates by means of mechanical abrasion. When suspended in a cleanser and applied to damp skin, the particles create friction against the skin surface, physically dislodging dead skin cells, dirt and excess oil.Unlike chemical exfoliants that dissolve or break down dead skin cells through enzymes or acids, this method relies on the size and hardness of the particles to achieve exfoliation. The efficacy depends partly on particle size—smaller, more uniformly sized particles tend to cause less irritation than larger, irregular fragments.

Use walnut shell powder exfoliants on damp skin, applying with gentle circular motions for no more than one to two minutes. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Begin with once or twice weekly application and adjust frequency based on your skin's tolerance. Avoid use on active acne lesions or severely compromised skin barriers, and always follow with a moisturiser to support skin hydration post-exfoliation.

Walnut shell powder is generally well-tolerated, though mechanical exfoliants carry a risk of irritation if applied with excessive pressure or too frequently.
