What Is Octinoxate?
Octinoxate (Octyl Methoxycinnamate) is a widely used organic UV filter that provides protection against UVB radiation, the rays primarily responsible for sunburn. It absorbs UVB rays and converts them to less damaging heat energy.
While effective for UVB protection, octinoxate has faced scrutiny for potential hormone disruption and environmental concerns, leading some regions to restrict its use in sunscreens.
