What Is Willow Bark Extract?

Willow bark extract is derived from the bark of the white willow tree (Salix alba). It naturally contains salicin, which converts to salicylic acid in the skin, providing natural BHA exfoliation.

Unlike synthetic salicylic acid, willow bark provides a slower, gentler release of the active compound. This makes it more suitable for sensitive skin while still offering pore-clearing and exfoliating benefits.

The extract also contains tannins and flavonoids that contribute anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties beyond the salicylic acid activity.
