Zingiber aromaticus extract, also called Zingiber aromaticum, is taken from a plant in the ginger family commonly known as fragrant ginger. Somewhat confusingly, while there is a Zingiber aromaticus\/\aromaticum variety of the ginger plant, it is not a separate species from the more commonly known ginger, Zingiber zerumbet.
