When applied to skin, these compounds can draw moisture from the environment and deeper skin layers toward the surface, helping to plump the stratum corneum and maintain skin hydration.The phenolic content contributes antioxidant activity, which may help protect skin cells from oxidative stress caused by environmental factors such as UV exposure and pollution. However, the clinical significance of this activity when applied topically remains limited in evidence.

Cucumis melo fruit extract is typically incorporated into serums, toners, hydrating creams, and essences. Because it functions as a skin conditioner and hydration support, it works well in moisturising formulations.
