What Is Glucose?
Glucose is a type of sugar that is a key component of the skin’s natural moisturizing factors (NMFs). It is a humectant, meaning it attracts and binds water to the skin, helping to keep it hydrated and supple.
In skin care, glucose functions as a skin-replenishing ingredient and a source of energy for skin cells. It is also known to have antioxidant properties, which help to protect the skin from environmental stressors.
Glucose can be derived from corn, sugar cane, or other natural sources. It is often combined with other ingredients to form more complex molecules, such as glucose oxidase or glucose pentaacetate, which have their own unique benefits.
