What Is Hydroxyethyl Urea?
Hydroxyethyl Urea is a synthetic ingredient that serves to hydrate skin and help maintain a normal moisture balance in skin's uppermost layers. It functions as a humectant, which means it draws and binds moisture to the skin, and is also considered a skin-replenishing ingredient. It is a derivative of Urea, a component of the skin's Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF). Unlike Urea, Hydroxyethyl Urea is not known to have the same mild exfoliating properties. It is valued for its ability to improve skin's texture, making it feel plump, dewy, and smooth. It is often used in moisturizers and serums to minimize water loss and keep skin soft and comfortable.
Hydroxyethyl urea is a synthetically-derived humectant that helps replenish and maintain skin's moisture levels. Beyond its powerful hydrating ability, it also helps promote cell turnover for smoother, more refined skin.
