Hydroxypropyltrimonium inulin is a modified polysaccharide derived from inulin, a naturally occurring carbohydrate found in plants such as chicory root. The ingredient is created by chemically treating inulin to add hydroxypropyltrimonium groups, which makes it water-soluble and functional in cosmetic formulations.In skincare and haircare products, it serves primarily as an emulsion stabiliser—helping to maintain the consistency and integrity of creams, lotions and serums—whilst also providing conditioning properties that can improve the feel and appearance of the skin and hair surface.
