It belongs to a family of conditioning agents commonly used in hair and personal care formulations.This ingredient works by adhering to the hair shaft, where it deposits a thin conditioning film. It is primarily a hair-conditioning agent and antistatic, meaning it helps neutralise the electrical charge that causes hair to frizz or cling together.

The ingredient carries a positive electrical charge that is attracted to the negatively charged surface of the hair cuticle.
