What Is Melanin?

Melanin is the natural pigment responsible for skin, hair, and eye colour. In skincare, synthetic or plant-derived melanin can be used for its antioxidant and protective properties, helping to shield skin from environmental damage.

While our bodies produce melanin naturally to protect against UV damage, topical melanin can provide additional antioxidant support and help protect the skin's lipids from oxidation.
