They're designed to work with the skin's existing moisture barrier rather than simply sitting on the surface.

Olive oil decyl esters are typically found in moisturisers, serums, and barrier repair creams. Apply to clean skin morning and evening, or as directed by your product. Since this ingredient works to support the barrier, it pairs well with occlusives (such as squalane or petrolatum) and humectants (such as glycerin) for optimal hydration.
