PEG-9 Borageate is a synthetic emulsifier derived from borage seed oil, a plant known for its fatty acid profile. It belongs to the polyethylene glycol (PEG) family of ingredients and functions as a surfactant, allowing oil-soluble and water-soluble components to mix evenly in skincare formulas.Its primary role is structural rather than active: it stabilises creams, serums and lotions so they maintain a consistent texture and don't separate over time. This enables formulators to combine beneficial ingredients that would otherwise be incompatible.

PEG-9 Borageate works by positioning itself at the boundary between oil and water phases. One part of the molecule is attracted to oils, while another part prefers water, allowing it to hold these immiscible liquids in suspension together.This emulsifying action is crucial for cosmetic formulation stability.
