Ethyl Dicarboethoxy Pantothenate

Ethyl dicarboethoxy pantothenate (EDCEP) is a synthetic derivative of pantothenic acid, also known as vitamin B5. It is created by chemically modifying pantothenic acid to improve stability and skin penetration in cosmetic formulations.This ingredient functions primarily as a skin conditioning agent. It is designed to help the skin maintain its natural protective mechanisms when exposed to environmental stressors such as pollution and oxidative damage.

EDCEP is believed to activate Nrf2, a cellular pathway that regulates the body's natural antioxidant and detoxification responses. By stimulating this pathway, the ingredient helps skin cells upregulate their own protective mechanisms against reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by environmental pollutants.This approach differs from topical antioxidants that directly neutralise free radicals; instead, EDCEP encourages skin cells to strengthen their inherent defence systems, potentially offering more sustained protection.
