Nicotinoyl Tripeptide-35 is a synthetic derivative based on niacinamide (vitamin B3), engineered to combine antioxidant activity with pigmentation-regulating properties. It belongs to a class of modified niacinamide compounds designed to address both free radical damage and uneven skin tone.
Unlike some skin-lightening ingredients that work by directly inhibiting melanin production, this compound appears to work through different pathways, including reduction of melanosome transfer (the process by which melanin moves from melanocytes to skin cells) and regulation of genes involved in pigmentation.

A small clinical trial involving 52 volunteers found no evidence of skin irritation or sensitisation when a 0.1% formulation was applied topically, and pigmented spot analysis showed improvement.
However, the body of published research remains limited, with studies primarily conducted in laboratory and model systems rather than large-scale human trials. While results are promising, broader clinical data would strengthen confidence in its efficacy and long-term safety profile.
