What Is Sodium Dextran Sulfate?

Sodium dextran sulfate is a suspending agent used in cosmetics formulations. In its raw form, it is a water-soluble white powder. The independent Cosmetic Ingredient Review panel has ruled sodium dextran sulfate safe as used in makeup and skin care. It is used in concentrations up to 0.5% in leave-on cosmetics.
