Heliocare 360° Pediatrics Stick SPF50+

Heliocare 360° Pediatrics Stick SPF50+ in a lifestyle bathroom setting — Skintique review

The Verdict

Pediatrics Stick is the reapplication-friendly member of Heliocare's children's range: a compact 25g stick that older kids can, in theory, apply themselves, which is genuinely useful for topping up a nose or cheekbones at school pick-up or after swimming without a bottle of lotion in the school bag. It isn't a body-coverage product at 25g, so it works best alongside a lotion or spray for arms and legs rather than as a child's only sunscreen. The sensitive and atopic-prone positioning is the brand's own marketing language rather than a claim we've independently checked, so for a child with diagnosed eczema or a reactive skin condition, we'd check with a GP, health visitor or dermatologist before relying on it.

Heliocare 360° Pediatrics Stick SPF50+ is a 25g sun protection stick from Heliocare's children's line, labelled for children from 2 years old and built with Fernblock® antioxidant technology plus Astaxanthin, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. It's a mess-free, roll-on format designed for targeted reapplication on the face and hotspots rather than full-body coverage.

What is Heliocare Pediatrics Stick SPF50+?

This is the compact, stick-format member of Heliocare's Pediatrics range, sitting alongside the larger-volume Pediatrics Lotion Spray and the 100%-mineral Pediatrics Mineral fluid. According to Heliocare's own product listing, it delivers SPF50+ with PA++++ broad-spectrum protection against UVA, UVB, visible light and infrared-A, and glides on to leave an invisible finish with a light vanilla scent. At 25g, it's sized for topping up small, exposed areas – nose, ears, cheeks, shoulders – rather than covering a child's whole body.

Ingredients highlights

Fernblock® is Heliocare's signature antioxidant complex, derived from the fern Polypodium leucotomos, and it runs through most of the brand's SPF range including this pediatric stick. Astaxanthin is added alongside it – a carotenoid antioxidant Heliocare pairs with Fernblock® in several 360° formulas – plus Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Heliocare's own listing describes this combination as clinically proven to help prevent sunburn and reduce UV-induced inflammation, and cites Fernblock® as backed by more than 80 scientific publications; these are the brand's own figures and claims, not independently verified by us, so we'd treat them as manufacturer positioning rather than something we can stand behind directly. Correct, generous, regularly-reapplied SPF use is generally understood to help support skin against the visible effects of long-term sun exposure – we wouldn't frame any single product as preventing damage outright.

Who it's suitable for

Heliocare's own listing states this stick is suitable for children from 2 years old and describes it as formulated for sensitive skin types, including skin that's prone to reactions or atopic conditions. As with the rest of the Pediatrics range, we're repeating that as the brand's stated positioning rather than independent medical advice: children's skin sensitivity varies a great deal, and any product choice for a diagnosed skin condition such as eczema should be checked with a GP, health visitor, dermatologist or pharmacist first.

How to use

Swipe directly onto clean, dry skin before sun exposure, covering the face and any other exposed hotspots, and reapply regularly through the day – especially after swimming, sweating or towel-drying, even on a water-resistant formula. Because it's a targeted stick rather than a full-body format, it works best paired with a lotion or spray for arms, legs and torso. A patch test on a small area 24–48 hours before first full use is a sensible precaution, particularly for sensitive or reactive skin.

Pediatrics Stick vs the rest of the range

Within Heliocare's children's line, the Pediatrics Stick is the compact, reapplication-focused option. The Pediatrics Lotion Spray is a larger, 250ml trigger-spray format built for covering a child's whole body quickly, while Pediatrics Mineral is a smaller, 100%-mineral-filter fluid for sensitive or atopic-prone skin. Heliocare also makes a stick-format sunscreen for older children and adults in its sport line – see our Sport Transparent Stick review – though that formula isn't positioned specifically for young children, so we wouldn't swap the two. Which product suits a particular child depends on age, skin type, and whether you need body coverage or a reapplication top-up.

Our verdict

Pediatrics Stick earns its place in Heliocare's children's range as the practical reapplication product: small enough to hand to an older child for a top-up at school or sport, and built with the same Fernblock®-led antioxidant approach as the rest of the pediatric line. At 25g it isn't a substitute for a body-coverage lotion or spray, and the sensitive/atopic-prone marketing is the brand's own positioning rather than a claim we've independently verified – check with a GP or dermatologist first if your child has a diagnosed skin condition. For topping up sun protection on the go, it's a sensible companion product within the range.
