A rinse-off mechanical exfoliator that resurfaces by abrasion rather than acid. The polishing work is done by hydrated silica, a mineral particle, alongside jojoba esters — rounded, biodegradable beads that lift debris without the jagged edges of a nut-shell scrub. A gentle cleansing base and grapefruit peel oil clear the pores as you work. One to two minutes on damp skin, then rinse. Suited to normal, combination and oily skin looking for immediate smoothness.

Long-Term Benefits:

Used once or twice a week, mechanical exfoliation keeps the surface clear without the cumulative sensitisation that comes from over-using acids. Skin tends to look more even and reflect light better, and congestion is less likely to establish. It is deliberately a limited-frequency product: the temptation with a scrub that feels this effective is to use it more often, and that is how barriers get damaged. Twice a week is the ceiling for most people.

How will it feel on my Skin?

A thick, creamy cleanser with fine grit through it that you can feel but which never scratches. It foams a little as you massage. One to two minutes of light circular movement is enough — pressure does not improve the result, it only risks irritation. Rinses clean, leaving skin soft and faintly tight in the way a good cleanser does, ready for serum.

Mechanical, not chemical: the exfoliation is physical. The ingredient list contains no AHAs or BHAs, so there is no residual sun sensitivity after rinsing.

Fragrance allergens: grapefruit peel oil brings limonene, citral and linalool with it. These are declared allergens under EU and UK cosmetic labelling rules.

Biodegradable abrasives: jojoba esters and hydrated silica, not polyethylene beads.

Storage: Cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

How To Use

Application: Apply a small amount to damp, cleansed skin. Massage in light circular motions for one to two minutes, avoiding the eye area. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat dry.

Frequency: One to two times a week — no more

Timing: Morning or evening

Layering: Follow with serum, moisturiser and, in the morning, SPF.

Expert Tip: Let the particles do the work. Pressing harder does not exfoliate more, it just inflames the skin.

Hydrated Silica — Second in the ingredient list and the main abrasive. A mineral particle of consistent size and shape, so exfoliation is even rather than patchy.

Jojoba Esters — Rounded, fully biodegradable beads derived from jojoba wax. They soften against skin warmth as you work, which is why the scrub feels progressively gentler rather than sharper.

Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil — Included to help clear the pores as you massage. It is also the source of the product's natural citrus scent, and of the declared allergens limonene, citral and linalool.

Coco-Glucoside and Sodium (C14-16) Olefin Sulfonate — The mild cleansing system, which is why this works as a cleanser as well as an exfoliant.

Cetearyl Olivate and Sorbitan Olivate — Olive-derived emulsifiers that keep the base conditioning, so the skin is not stripped by the surfactants.

Glycerin and Propanediol — Humectants that offset the drying effect of any wash-off product.

FAQ

How often can I use it?

Once or twice a week. It feels effective enough that people are tempted to use it more, and that is reliably how a barrier gets damaged. If skin looks red or feels tight the next day, you have either used it too often or pressed too hard.

Is a scrub not bad for your skin?

Sharp, irregular abrasives are — crushed shell and stone fragments cause micro-tears. The abrasives here are hydrated silica, manufactured to a consistent particle size, and jojoba esters, which are spherical and soften at skin temperature. Used with light pressure once or twice a week, that is a different proposition.

Should I use this or the AHA Renewal Serum?

MicroDerm Polish is immediate, tactile and rinses off, with no lingering sun sensitivity. AHA Renewal Serum keeps working after application and reaches unevenly rather than only where you rub, which suits reactive skin better. Plenty of people use the acid routinely and keep the polish for when they want the instant result.

Can I use it if I have breakouts?

Not over active spots. Physical exfoliation can rupture them and spread bacteria across the surrounding skin. Work around active areas, or choose a chemical exfoliant until things have settled.

Does it replace my cleanser?

On the days you use it, yes. It contains a mild surfactant system, so it cleanses as it exfoliates. There is no need to cleanse twice.

What is the citrus smell?

Grapefruit peel oil, which is in the formula to help clear the pores rather than as a perfume. No synthetic fragrance is added. It does mean the product declares limonene, citral and linalool — worth knowing if you are sensitive to citrus.
