A leave-on exfoliating serum built on 8% lactic acid, which sits second in the ingredient list — this is a genuine resurfacing treatment, not a token acid. Lactic acid is the largest of the common AHAs, so it works nearer the surface and tends to suit skin that finds glycolic too sharp. AlumierMD buffer it with sodium hyaluronate, panthenol and allantoin so the skin holds onto water while the exfoliation happens. Suited to dull, uneven or rough-textured skin on any skin type.

How To Use

Application: One to two pumps in the evening after cleansing. Massage into face, neck and décolleté in an upward motion, avoiding the eye area.

Frequency: Two to three times a week to begin with, building as tolerance develops

FAQ

How often should I actually use it?

Start at twice a week in the evening and hold there for two to three weeks. If your skin is comfortable, move to three times. Very few people need it nightly, and using it more often does not speed up results — it usually just compromises the barrier.

Can I use it with my retinoid?

Not on the same night, at least to begin with. Both work on cell turnover and stacking them is the most common cause of an irritated barrier. Alternate nights is the usual approach — acid one night, retinoid the next, moisturiser only if either has been too much.

Why lactic acid rather than glycolic?

Molecule size. Glycolic is the smallest AHA and penetrates deepest, which makes it effective but more irritating. Lactic acid is larger, works nearer the surface, and holds some water itself — so it tends to suit drier and more reactive skin better.

It tingles quite a lot. Is that normal?

A tingle for the first minute or so is expected at 8%. What is not normal is stinging that intensifies, burning, or redness that outlasts the application. If that happens, rinse, use a moisturiser only for a few days, and restart at a lower frequency.

Do I really need sunscreen with it?

Yes. AHAs thin the layer of dead cells that gives some incidental sun protection, and the sensitivity persists for around a week after you stop. Without daily SPF you risk undoing the tone improvement you are using it for.

Should I choose this or MicroDerm Polish?

MicroDerm Polish is a rinse-off physical scrub — quick, tactile, and better if you like the immediate feel of a polish. This is a chemical exfoliant that keeps working after you apply it and reaches areas an abrasive cannot. Sensitive or reactive skin generally does better with the acid.

Lovely serum

I've been using this serum for a week now. Its smooth to go on to the skin and sinks in nicely.

Love this Product

I swapped this in when I was pregnant, instead of using a retinol, and never switched back! I feel it's less harsh on my skin but has the same smoothing and anti-aging effects. Really helped clear my complexion up too!
