How To Use

Application: One to two pumps morning and evening after cleansing. Massage into face, neck and décolleté in an upward motion, avoiding the eye area.

Frequency: Twice daily

Timing: Morning and evening

Layering: After cleansing, before moisturiser. In the morning, always finish with a broad-spectrum SPF.

Expert Tip: Apply across the whole area rather than spot-treating. Brightening the surrounding skin is what makes a patch stop standing out.

Key Active Ingredients:

Arbutin — A naturally occurring precursor that releases hydroquinone slowly and in trace amounts, inhibiting tyrosinase without the irritation or restrictions of hydroquinone itself.

Kojic Acid — Produced by fungi during fermentation. Chelates the copper that tyrosinase needs to function, so melanin synthesis slows.

Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract — AlumierMD describe it as working at three levels against dark spots. Also a strong antioxidant.

Saccharide Isomerate — A biosynthesised exopolysaccharide included for its effect on tone through two distinct mechanisms.

Lentinus Edodes (Shiitake) Mycelium Extract — From the edible mushroom; lightens the appearance of discolouration and evens tone. It sits unusually high in the ingredient list.

Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Liquorice) Root Extract — Brightens, and quenches free radicals that would otherwise trigger further pigment production.

Tetrapeptide-14 — A short peptide signal included alongside the brighteners.

Sodium Hyaluronate — Holds water in the upper layers so the serum hydrates as it corrects.

How long before I see a difference in my dark spots?

Eight to twelve weeks of consistent twice-daily use for most people, and longer for older or deeper marks. Pigment already in the upper layers has to shed before you see the change, and production has to be suppressed at the same time. Anyone promising two weeks is describing something else.

Is it as effective as hydroquinone?

Hydroquinone is stronger per application, which is why it is restricted to limited courses. This works more gradually through several mechanisms at once and can be used continuously — over a year, that consistency often closes the gap. It also avoids the rebound and ochronosis risks that come with prolonged hydroquinone use.

Will it work on post-acne marks?

Usually yes, and often faster than on sun-induced patches, because post-inflammatory pigment tends to sit shallower. Red rather than brown marks are a vascular response rather than melanin, though, and those fade on their own timeline regardless of what you apply.

Do I have to wear sunscreen with it?

Yes, and this is the single biggest determinant of whether it works. UV stimulates the exact enzyme the serum is inhibiting. Using a brightener without daily SPF is running a tap into a draining sink.

Is it vegan?

No. The formula contains honey extract, which is bee-derived. If you need a vegan brightening option, ask our team and we will point you to alternatives in the range.

Can I use it with a retinoid or vitamin C?

Yes to both, and they complement it. A retinoid in the evening speeds surface turnover, which helps clear pigment already made; vitamin C in the morning adds antioxidant protection. If your skin is sensitive, introduce one at a time rather than starting everything together.
