How To Use

Application: A small amount, morning and evening after cleansing. Massage into face, neck and décolleté.

Frequency: Twice daily

Timing: Before SPF in the morning; last step at night unless you use a facial oil

Layering: AlumierMD suggest following with a serum if you use one; in practice most people apply serum first and this over the top

Expert Tips: Because it absorbs so quickly, it is easy to use too much — one pump usually covers the face. If you are also using a leave-on acid or retinoid, introduce this gradually: the lactic/glycolic copolymer is mild, but it is not nothing.

FAQ

Will HydraLight be enough if my skin gets dry in winter?

Probably not on its own. It is deliberately near oil-free, so it hydrates without sealing much in. If your skin turns dry seasonally, many people use HydraLight through summer and HydraDew, the richer version, through winter.

It contains an acid — can I use it with my retinoid?

With care. The lactic/glycolic acid copolymer releases acid slowly and is much milder than a leave-on AHA, but it is not nothing. If you already use a retinoid or a separate acid, introduce HydraLight gradually — every other night to begin with — and see how your skin responds.

Is this just HydraDew with the oils taken out?

No, it is a different formula. Niacinamide sits fifth in HydraLight's ingredient list against fifteenth in HydraDew, and there are four peptides rather than two. In practice it carries more active per application than the richer version.

I have oily skin. Do I need a moisturiser at all?

Usually yes. Oily skin is frequently dehydrated as well, and skipping moisturiser tends to leave the barrier no better off — sometimes prompting more oil. A light, non-occlusive formula is the usual answer, which is what this is.

Can I wear it under make-up?

Yes, and it is one of its strengths. It absorbs in seconds with no residue, so foundation goes straight over without slipping or pilling.

Why does it feel like I have not applied anything?

That is the intended finish. There are no butters, waxes or plant oils to leave a film, so on oily and combination skin it disappears. If you prefer to feel a moisturiser on the skin, HydraDew gives that cushioned finish instead.

Lovely item hydrates the skin

Been using these products for the last 6 years, always pleased with results.

When I first started using the products free samples of other products would be given out, this would be nice from time to time.

I usually use HydraRich but thought for Summer I would give this a try And I'm pleased with it. Seems to go a bit further but still my skin feels hydrated. In future will use this in summer and the rich one in winter.
