What Is sh-Oligopeptide-2?

Sh-Oligopeptide-2 is a single-chain recombinant human peptide, also known as Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1). It belongs to the group of ingredients known as Growth Factors, similar to Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF). Consisting of 70 amino acids, it is primarily claimed to stimulate cell proliferation and accelerate wound healing. Studies suggest that it works synergistically with EGF to promote keratinocyte (skin cell) proliferation. In cosmetic formulations, it functions as a skin conditioning and skin protecting agent, helping to maintain the skin's overall health and barrier function. As of the current review, has not yet assigned a rating to this ingredient, noting that research is ongoing to provide the most accurate information.
