AlumierMD: A Beginner's Guide to the Range Reviews
41 product reviews
AlumierMD is a clinic-dispensed, dermatologist-formulated skincare brand from Canada, sold through skin clinics and through Skintique rather than on the high street or in mass retail. That's part of why it has a strong clinical reputation but far less coverage online than drugstore or mainstream prestige brands — there simply isn't the same volume of independent reviews out there. This guide is Skintique Academy's attempt to close that gap: every AlumierMD product we stock, reviewed and sorted so you can actually find your way around the range.
What is AlumierMD?
AlumierMD formulates its products to support visibly healthier-looking skin, working from a cosmeceutical, clinic-first position rather than a mass-market one. Because it's dispensed through skincare professionals, the range leans more clinical in tone than most high-street brands — ingredient lists are detailed, actives are often layered rather than headline single ingredients, and several products (the retinol ladder in particular) come with explicit usage guidance that's worth reading properly rather than skimming.
That clinic-first positioning also explains why AlumierMD is harder to research than a mainstream brand. There's no wall of influencer content, no shelf at the supermarket to pick a bottle up and read the back of, and comparatively little independent search demand for individual product names — most people encounter AlumierMD for the first time via a clinic recommendation, not a scroll through social media. Skintique Academy's job with this guide is to give you the same level of product detail a clinic consultation would, in a format you can read at your own pace before you buy.
Who AlumierMD tends to suit
Because the range is formulated with practitioner input and often used alongside in-clinic treatments, it tends to suit people who already have a fairly clear sense of their skin type and concern, or who are working from a clinic recommendation. That's not a hard rule — several products (the Purifying Gel Cleanser and Ultimate Boost Serum in particular) are formulated for genuinely broad skin-type fits — but if you're brand new to active skincare altogether, it's worth reading the "who it's for" and "who should skip" sections on each individual review before adding anything from the retinol ladder or the acid-based exfoliants to your routine.
How the range is built: systems, not a single "best" product
Unlike a drugstore range where you can usually point to one hero product, AlumierMD is structured in matched systems built around skin type and skin concern:
- The Hydra moisturiser range — five moisturisers (HydraLight, HydraDew, HydraCalm, HydraClarité, HydraRich) matched to specific skin types, from oily/combination through to very dry and redness-prone.
- Targeted Serums — a group of ten serums sorted by concern (hydration, brightening, oil control, ageing, redness) rather than ranked against each other.
- The retinol strength ladder — Retinol Resurfacing Serum in three strengths (0.25%, 0.5%, 1.0%) for graduated introduction, plus IntelliRET™ 0.3+ as an antioxidant-boosted alternative and a dedicated Retinol Eye Gel for the eye area.
That structure is why you won't find a single "AlumierMD's best serum" answer anywhere on this site — the honest answer almost always depends on which system fits your skin.
How to use this guide
Three ways in, depending on where you're starting from:
- Don't know what you need yet? Start with one of the concern listicles below — they're built as decision trees for a skin type or concern, not flat rankings.
- Torn between two specific products? Use the comparison pages — they're written for genuine on-site confusion between range siblings (HydraDew vs HydraRich, for example), not to declare a winner.
- Already know what you're looking at? Jump straight to the individual product review below, grouped by category to match how AlumierMD organises its own range.

Which AlumierMD is right for you?
If you're not sure where to start, these guides sort the range by skin type and concern rather than by category:
- Best AlumierMD moisturiser for your skin type — the five-way Hydra range explained as a decision tree, not a ranking.
- Best AlumierMD retinol for beginners vs experienced skin — the strength ladder, and where to start.
- Best AlumierMD products for blemish-prone and oily skin — a routine build, cleanse through to SPF.
- Best AlumierMD products for redness and rosacea-prone skin — cosmetic routine support, not a medical treatment.
Comparing AlumierMD products
For the pairs that cause the most genuine on-site confusion:
- Retinol Resurfacing Serum vs IntelliRET™ 0.3+
- HydraDew vs HydraRich
- Purifying Gel Cleanser vs GentleFoaming Cleanser
A note on retinol, and on pregnancy
Several AlumierMD products — the Retinol Resurfacing Serum ladder, IntelliRET™ 0.3+ and Retinol Eye Gel — belong to the retinol class. Retinol-class products are generally introduced gradually (starting once or twice a week and building up), used at night only, and paired with daily SPF the following morning. The strength ladder exists precisely so you're not forced to start at full strength: begin at 0.25% if you're new to retinol, and only step up once your skin has settled at the lower strength for several weeks. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, please contact our team for advice before use.
A quick word on how we've built this guide
Every product-specific fact in the reviews linked from this pillar is sourced from Skintique's own product data or AlumierMD's official documentation — nothing is invented. Where a detail genuinely isn't available (an exact active-ingredient percentage, or full fragrance status on a handful of products), the individual review says so plainly rather than guessing.
