Why Medik8 is confusing to shop

Forty-seven products isn't unusual for a clinical skincare brand, but Medik8's range is really two things bolted together. There's a foundational system — cleanse, vitamin C, SPF, vitamin A, hydration — that's genuinely simple once you see it laid out. And then there are three separate vitamin-A ranges (Crystal Retinal, Intelligent Retinol TR and R-Retinoate) built on three different molecules, each with its own strength ladder, sold alongside vitamin-C serums that run from a gentle 7% up to a 30% formula the brand itself says isn't for sensitive skin. Pick the wrong one and you've either wasted money on something too mild to notice, or started somewhere too strong for a first-time user.

The CSA Philosophy, explained

CSA stands for Cleanse, vitamin C (plus SPF), vitamin A. It's Medik8's way of saying: protect your skin during the day, let it renew itself overnight. In practice that means an antioxidant serum and sunscreen every morning, and a vitamin-A product most evenings, with everything else in the range — hydrating serums, peptides, targeted toners — layered in around those two anchors rather than replacing them.

Building your Medik8 routine, step by step

You don't need all 47 products, and you don't need every row in that table either. A genuinely minimal Medik8 routine is a cleanser, Hydr8 B5 as a hydration base, a vitamin C serum in the morning under SPF, and a vitamin A serum at night once you're ready to introduce one. Peptides, targeted toners and higher-strength actives are additions to layer in later, not starting requirements.

If you're new to actives altogether, start with the day side — vitamin C and SPF — for a few weeks before introducing vitamin A. That gives your skin a baseline and makes it much easier to tell what a new product is actually doing once you add it.

Medik8's three vitamin-A systems

This is where most of the confusion sits. Medik8 sells vitamin A in three different molecules, each with its own strength ladder and its own evening-only routine:

Choosing your vitamin C strength

Medik8's vitamin C serums run on a strength ladder rather than a single formula, so "which vitamin C serum" is really "which strength": C-TETRA at 7% is the brand's own entry point for sensitive skin and first-time users, up through a 14% lipid-based option and Super C Ferulic at 30%, which the product's own listing says isn't recommended for sensitive skin.
